Confined space inspections of the interiors of the precipitators kicked this project off. The team had to inspect and construct during 12-hour scheduled outages. This challenge drove the design and the creation of many unique connection designs.

Building Integrated Photovoltaic Thermal Systems Research
Columbia University / Weidlinger / DOE
This 1.5 Million dollar grant was funded to explore the commercialization of a Novel Hybrid Photovoltaic - Thermal Electric - Solar Thermal power system. Mr Kelly Served as Co-PI with Dr. Huiming Yin.
This was a mission critical project to modernize the GSA Central plant, which provides heating and cooling to most of the buildings on the Capital Mall, including the Smithsonian Institute. This historic masonry facade hides one of the largest urban co-generation plants in the country and the100-year old structure had to be extensively modified to accommodate the new systems.
